Fantasy Football Becomes Reality
Those of you involved in fantasy football can relate to the tough decisions on draft day. What if I have a choice between Travis Henry and Clinton Portis as my stud running back? My loyalty to the Buffalo Bills demands that I choose Henry, while the return of run-happy Joe Gibbs to the Washington Redskins means that Portis could take the rushing title this season. Decisions, decisions.

A Tribute To The Risk-Takers
The awe-inspiring Olympics coverage we see today owes its excellence to risk-takers. Were it not for those individuals who pushed the technological (and often economic) envelope in the coverage of past Olympics, the Games, and sports television in general, would not be where they are today.

Between The Rings
This was a hard commentary to write. Originally I started out waxing poetic about the athletes, the coaches, the television crews, even those 250 pimply faced crew kids from nations far and near hired especially for the Games at McDonald’s restaurants throughout the Olympic venues to ask, “Do you want fries with that?” in Greek. But I changed my focus: There are others involved at the Olympics who deserved to be mentioned.

NBC's Olympic Gambit
I know you’re all thinking Athens, but the big news is Torino, Italy, site of the 2006 Winter Olympic Games. NBC Universal Sports and Olympics chairman Dick Ebersol admittedly jumped the gun a bit when he announced on June 9 that the Torino games will be an all-HD broadcast, with the standard def feed being derived from the HD feed (more than likely edge-cropped, as I can’t even imagine a letterboxed Olympics--although it would leave room for some interesting graphics choices).
